Waurn Ponds Win

21 December 2010 - BMD Constructions was last week selected to duplicate the Princes Highway between Waurn Ponds and Winchelsea, south-west of Melbourne, clearing the way for construction to start early next year.

Valued at over $70m, the upgrade will be jointly funded by the federal and state governments and will provide 23 km of divided two-lane highway. The works will include the construction of a new bridge to carry Colac-bound highway lanes over the Geelong-Warrnambool railway line, as well as an upgrade of the existing highway bridge, to carry Geelong-bound traffic.

Benefits include:

  • improve the safety and reliability of this vital stretch of rural highway
  • improve freight viability along this key route
  • enhance amenity and access to south west tourist destinations
  • improve access and better connect communities and services
  • encourage state and regional development
  • provide better access to ports and markets for industry
