Oxley Highway Upgrade

16 March 2011 - The $60m RTA Oxley Highway project in Port Macquarie NSW is 60% complete with earthworks and bridge structures nearing completion and concrete paving works currently underway.

An onsite batch plant is servicing the continuously reinforced concrete paving operation.

Fauna fencing, grass swale construction and progressive revegetation will be occurring over the next few months and completion is due for late 2011.

Current work includes:

  • Completion of 12 large box culvert structuresto provide cross drainage and safe access for fauna under the new highway;
  • Completion ofthe future eastbound bridge that spans the existing Oxley Highway and twin bridges near the Sovereign Hills development site;
  • Constructing the layered continuously reinforced concrete pavement;
  • Installing stormwater pipes and pavement gravel in the western section; and
  • Commencement of roundabout construction at Philip Charley Drive and adjacent to the Service Centre.
