Lynwood Quarry

2 August 2011 - Lynwood Quarry is being constructed to replace the client's Penrith Lakes Scheme which is the key aggregate facility for Sydney and due to end operations in 2015. BMD Constructions is the head contractor and mine operator for this $60m turn-key project with works broadly involving construction of a 5Mt per annum quarry.

Located 180km south west of Sydney, Marulan is a small township in the Southern Tablelands of NSW.

Major scope elements include water supply lines and pump stations, haul bridge over rail lines, quarry pit, process plant pads, conveyor gantry footings and installation of the conveyor gallery, access road, two-span interchange over the Hume Highway, HV and LV installation, switch room, workshop, weigh bridge, plant control room, fuelling facility, rail siding, turnouts, crossings and signal design.

Works are due to be completed March 2012 and are currently under budget, ahead of program and with nil LTIs recorded.
