Bridgeman and Beckett Road Corridor Upgrade - Stage 1 Opening

5 April 2011 - On behalf of the Brisbane Lord Mayor's Department, Councillor Graham Quirk today opened stage one of the Bridgeman and Beckett Road Corridor Upgrade project.

The upgrade at Bridgeman Downs is part of Council's Road Action Program - an unprecedented infrastructure investment that fast tracks 15 years of road works into just four years. The program delivers traffic congestion reduction, increased safety and improved access across Brisbane's road network.

Local councillor Norm Wyndham said the project also came in $9 million under the $35 million set aside in the council's Road Action Plan budget.

That saving would go towards the restoration of City Hall.

"It is a great outcome for Brisbane, and for City Hall, because it is for the community of Brisbane to have our City Hall rebuilt," Cr Wyndham said.

Further information on the project is available on the Brisbane City Council website
