An international win for Tully Alliance Bruce Highway Upgrade

30 September 2010 - Tully Alliance Bruce Highway Upgrade was this month awarded the Best Large Project in the 2010 AECOM Excellence Awards which recognize a project completed during the 2009 fiscal year with net service revenue of more than US$5 million that significantly enhanced AECOM's brand.

Presented annually, the AECOM Excellence awards are part of a global program to celebrate outstanding client projects and business achievements. The awards are judged across every discipline allowing buildings, mining, energy, defence, environment, transport and water projects to compete in the one category. In 2010, 100 countries competed for the top award of Best Large Project, many of which were valued at over a billion dollars.

Completed 12 months ahead of schedule, the $133m Tully Alliance Bruce Highway Upgrade not only achieved outstanding commercial results, but also set new benchmarks in community engagement, training initiatives, safety performance, and environmental management.

At the time of construction, the Tully Alliance Bruce Highway Upgrade project was one of the largest road and bridge infrastructure projects ever undertaken outside of South-East Queensland. Alliance member companies included BMD Constructions, Albem Operations, Maunsell AECOM and Queensland Department of Main Roads.
